A big event to kick things off and four first-time venues as host tracks highlight the 2010 Dart Challenge Series for WISSOTA Late Models schedule.
There are 13 dates locked in, including a swing through the scenic Rocky Mountains.
“We have most of the races strung together, which is nice,” said Dart Challenge Series Director Craig Sullivan. “I think it should entice some people to travel.”
Dart Machinery of Troy, MI returns for the third year as the title sponsor of the series, which pays a minimum of $2,000 to win at each event and $6,500 to the overall winner of the series. Drivers that participate in 60 percent of the completed events will be eligible for a share of the series points fund.
Other sponsors already on board for 2010 are Joe Provo Race Wear, Keizer Aluminum Wheels and Lou Fegers Racing Equipment.
The series will kick off with a bang on Saturday, June 5, at Dakota State Fair Speedway. Challenge Cup X, the Dart series’ lone $5,000-to-win show, is smack dab in the middle of the three-day Wheel Jam festivities, which includes a Battle of the Bands, the SD BBQ championships and Chili Challenge, a page, a variety of events for semi tractors, a classic car, truck and motorcycle show, among other things.
A complete list of events during the weekend can be found at www.sdstatefair.com/wheeljam/.
The first-time hosts on the Dart Challenge Series schedule are Grand Rapids (MN) Speedway on Thursday, June 17; Gallatin (MT) Speedway on Friday, July 30; Gillette Thunder (WY) Speedway on Saturday, July 31; and Ogilvie (MN) Speedway on Sunday, August 29.
Gallatin hosted a Rumble Series event two years ago when Electric City (MT) Speedway, the first of three stops out west in late July, hosted a Dart Series race.
There are two other three three-day swings on the tour: Friday through Sunday, July 2-4 at Mississippi Thunder (WI) Speedway, Deer Creek (MN) Speedway and Eagle Valley (WI) Speedway; and Wednesday through Friday, July 7-9 at Madison (MN) Speedway, Casino (SD) Speedway and Brown County (SD) Speedway.
The events at Mississippi Thunder, Deer Creek, Electric City, Gillete, Gallain and Brown County will each pay $3,000 to win.
