JIM FALLS, WI (Feb. 20) - Eagle Valley Speedway owners Jerry and Janis Weigel hosted the speedway’s Appreciation Party at the Old Barn Bar on Saturday night.

The Old Barn Bar, on the Weigel’s rural property adjacent to their race track, was stuffed to the gills with racers and fans. After a meeting for the non-WISSOTA support classes, everyone got down to the business of handing out the awards for 2009 as well as awarding some door prizes.

After the ceremonies were completed, the Weigels put on a big spread and music - along with free beer - that all enjoyed.

There were six champions crowned for the 2009 race season, including Kevin Adams in the WISSOTA Modifieds, Shane Kisling in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Matt Leer in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Cory Crapser in the WISSOTA Street Stocks, George Richards in the Pure Stocks and Mike Peters in the Hornets.

Adams was the only champion not present on the night.

The Weigels also recognized the track’s six top rookies for 2009, including Steve Hallquist in the Modifieds, Super Stock driver Lance Schilling, Travis Anderson in the Midwest Modifieds, Jason Lang in the Street Stocks, Rick Weir in the Pure Stocks and Shawn Werner in the Hornets.

In addition to the various awards and trophy presentations, Jerry Weigel announced that thousands of yards of clay have been hauled in and will be applied to the track prior to the season opener in April. Fans will also notice a new concession stand at the facility complete with restrooms and showers.
